About Tamara Sam.jpg

Hey! So Glad You're Here.

Welcome to Hacking Mom Life! I’m Tamara Sam, a mixed-race Canadian living in the San Francisco Bay Area. I'm a Northern California mixed-race mom blogger from Toronto, Canada.  My father is from Ghana, my mother is from England and I am raising a fabulous baby girl named, Adeline.

My Husband and I moved to California (like so many others who migrate to Silicon Valley) to work in Tech, but after being in California for 2 years my career hit a standstill. My American work visa was denied leaving me without a job (working in the US can be complicated these days).

For the past decade, I have been working in Merchandise Buying and Retail Consulting and I completed my MBA in Boston in 2010.  I had always thought I would be a career woman/mother, so this was a huge shock to the system.

Ultimately, not being allowed to work (while my Husband still had his career) was a challenge, but it opened up a great opportunity for me to start writing and ...to have a baby. Our sweet baby girl, Adeline Frankie was born in 2019, and from there the Hacking Mom Life blog, where I am hacking my way through motherhood.

I’m navigating new friendships, new surroundings, new potential work opportunities, and of course the biggest milestone of my life, having Adeline. I am unapologetically honest in sharing with you my thoughts, diary, research, and research-gone-wrong. I also host a podcast called The Mom Sync (check out the Podcast link to listen).

Tune in and thanks for coming to share in my journey!

Fun facts:  I am an extrovert, and shamelessly befriended and created a few mom groups when I had my daughter (which is how The Mom Sync podcast was born).

I love to salsa dance, and I am a travel junkie! I have been lucky enough to have lived in 7 different countries and traveled to over 20.

Some of my faves are Thailand, Martinique, and China.

Hope you enjoy and please reach out!
