Hey! So Glad You're Here.
Welcome to Hacking Mom Life!
I’m Tamara Sam—a mixed-race Canadian mom living in Alpharetta, Georgia. I am a former retail exec, travel junkie, podcast host… and now, a swim safety advocate on a mission.
Born in Toronto to a British mother and a Ghanaian father, I’ve lived in 7 countries and visited over 20. I used to think my path was corporate and international—until motherhood rewrote everything.
After moving to the Bay Area to work in tech, my visa was unexpectedly denied. That career pause was hard—but it opened a new chapter I never saw coming: becoming a mom, launching this blog, and later, building a purpose-driven business from the ground up.
In 2019, our daughter Adeline Frankie was born. Hacking Mom Life started as a diary for my early motherhood mess—and it still is! But now, I also use this space to share what I’ve learned as a mom navigating identity, transitions, and most recently, entrepreneurship.
Today, I’m proud to be the owner of British Swim School of Alpharetta, a survival-first swim program that teaches babies, kids, and even adults how to become safer swimmers. Drowning is the #1 cause of accidental death for kids under 4, and that stat shook me to my core. I also know that learning to swim isn't just for fun, it's a critical life skill
As a mom of three, I knew I had to do something. So I did. I have always been water-obsessed, whether swimming in a lake, surfing in the ocean or teaching lessons at the pool. Water is my happy place and ultimately, British Swim School has kept me in it. Literally.
When I’m not teaching classes or filming reels at the pool, I’m wrangling my three girls (Adeline and twin toddlers, Nova and Lyla!), salsa dancing in the kitchen, and still hacking my way through this wild ride called motherhood.
Thanks for being here—and if you're a parent in the Alpharetta area, let’s connect. Especially if you want to talk mom life, swim safety, or raising brave girls in a big world.
Fun Facts:
💃 I love to salsa dance, play tennis and occasionally running a 5k.
🌍 I’ve lived in England, China, Martinique, on Cruise Ships and more.
🎙 I hosted The Mom Sync podcast (check it out!).
🌊 I believe swim lessons are more than fun—they’re lifesaving.
